Puget Sound Regional Maritime Resilience Workshop

The virtual workshop will be held on Sept. 9, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pacific Time on Zoom.

You may or may not be located here in the Pacific Northwest, but if you have a connection to the maritime sector or need to better understand how we might work together better during disasters from a water and land perspective, you might be interested in registering for this upcoming Regional Maritime Resilience Workshop.

This is a kickoff event for a Maritime Transportation System Resilience project we are working on here for an eight-county region in western Washington.

If you are outside of our region, you might find the project of interest so that you can replicate it in your own region. This work is being funded by the Regional Catastrophic Preparedness Grant (RCPG) program and is being administered by the King County Office of Emergency Management on behalf of the region.

And, there is another bit of a twist to the story. It is linked into another RCPG grant project that looks to fund Community Points of Distribution (CPODs) that will provide supply points for individuals and families in a post-earthquake environment. Snohomish County Emergency Management is administering that project.

Keep an eye on this blog in the future, when I’ll have Jason Biermann, director of Snohomish County Emergency Management, on the Disaster Zonepodcast to talk in more detail about the CPODs project.
Eric Holdeman is a contributing writer for Emergency Management magazine and is the former director of the King County, Wash., Office of Emergency Management.
