Pushing Different Economic Stimulus Buttons

Let’s try pushing different buttons to see what works.

I know I’ve done it before, In trying to get a device or program to do what I want it to do, I have just pushed different buttons, hoping that one of them will work.

In economic terms, I think we as a nation and governments do the same thing. It may be more “reasoned actions” than me just pushing buttons, but sometimes I do think they are just trying different ideas out.

A very topical subject for today is how do you get people back into jobs that employers are trying to fill. This appears to be the subject of this U.S. Chamber of Commerce Summit.

This being a Chamber event, I expect it will be a business perspective. They describe the event this way:

“As the nation rebuilds and makes strides toward recovery, we need an approach to putting Americans back to work that is simple, fast, and employer-led. It must address immediate employment needs while also
laying the foundation for a modernized, adaptive, and resilient workforce development system. Such a system must work for both workers and employers, and it must be a driver of economic growth and long-term competitiveness.

“Please join the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and U.S. Chamber Foundation on June 2, 2021 at 3:00 pm ET, for Workforce: A Call to Action.

This event will bring together stakeholders in government and industry in conversation around workforce training as an important investment for
both recovery and long-term economic needs.”
