Washington Secretary of State — New Federal Elections Official

Kim Wyman reportedly headed to D.C.

It is our loss and the nation’s gain. The appointment is not final, but here is the news item: “Report: Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman will be named to Biden administration election-security post.”

In my “day job” as director of the Center for Regional Disaster Resilience (CRDR) we had lined up Kim Wyman and her office to be a major contributor to a cybersecurity workshop for elected officials on election security. I’m sure we will continue to work with the Secretary of State’s Office and maybe she will come back home to provide the lunchtime keynote as we planned.

I’m not sure where she will fit into the mix at the federal level. You would expect it to be at the Department of Homeland Security and in the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
