60 Minutes, the CBS television program, is one that I tape on a regular basis and then watch later in the week.
Thus I caught a segment on
the semiconductor microchip shortage on Friday night.
Semiconductors are just another of the commodities that have gotten caught up in the “just in time” world we lived in before the pandemic. That world has collapsed in so many different ways — beyond N95 masks.
Besides learning about the supply chain hiccup we are in, you will also learn about how we no longer make the most sophisticated microchips in the world. To sum it all up, we are behind and there is now only one American microchip maker — Intel.
