FEMA FIT Teams and CME

FEMA Integration Teams (FIT), Coronal Mass Ejection (CME).

The latest Disaster Tough podcast has as its subject FEMA FIT Teams. These are Federal Emergency Management Agency staff embedded within state emergency management offices.

I went looking to see how many states have these teams, but could not find such a list. However, Indiana is one of them and that is the subject area of the linked podcast above.

During their discussion, the topic of Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) events came up. This is a topic we’ve explored here in western Washington. It was the subject of an “Interdependencies Workshop: Long-Term Power Outage.” If you don’t know anything about the potential or the impacts of a CME, it would be a good place to start.

By “long-term” we mean years, not days, weeks or months.
