Awards Program to Recognize Technology Applications Benefiting First Responders

Emergency management, public safety, homeland security and criminal justice agencies from around the world are invited to enter.

Emergency Management magazine and the Center for Digital Government are conducting an awards program to recognize technology solutions that have assisted first responders in their mission of keeping citizens safe. The Emergency Management Digital Distinction Awards are open to all emergency management, fire, homeland security, criminal justice and public safety agencies at all levels of government worldwide. Entries must be submitted by a government employee, and projects must be operational by the contest deadline of March 18, 2010.

The Emergency Management Digital Distinction Awards will be presented to individuals or teams that have designed, developed and deployed new applications or improved existing systems that assist the department/agency to deliver services more effectively.

Consideration will be given to projects that:

  • use technology in an innovative and common sense way;
  • demonstrate collaboration across jurisdictions or agencies/departments;
  • demonstrate measurable support of an organization’s strategic goals; and/or
  • indicate how the innovation can be replicated in other public agencies faced with similar challenges.

Winners will be announced in Emergency Management magazine and on Emergencymgmt.com and Centerdigitalgov.com

The Center thanks Microsoft for underwriting the contest and for its support of the emergency management community worldwide.
