ICE Cellphone App Available to Report Child Predators

Operation Predator app allows users to receive alerts about wanted predators and provide information to homeland security.

A new cellphone application that helps federal law enforcement find fugitives and suspected child predators is now available.

The app is available in English and Spanish for both Apple and Android phones, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

ICE's Homeland Security Investigations launched the initial Operation Predator app for Apple products in September 2013.

The app allows users to receive alerts about wanted predators, share information with friends through email and social media and provide information to homeland security by calling or submitting an online tip.

It can be downloaded through Apple's app store or the Google Play store.

Earlier this year, a fugitive child sex predator from the Bakersfield area was featured on the app after the resulting publicity led to an anonymous tip that he was living in Mexicali, Mexico.

David Michael Wilson, 31, formerly of Delano, was arrested April 2 in Mexicali by Mexican law enforcement and subsequently turned over to HSI by Mexican immigration authorities.

Wilson, who pleaded guilty in August to one count of receiving or distributing images of child pornography, remains in federal custody pending sentencing Dec. 1.
