This will take pressure off emergency rooms, Corcoran said, speaking at Gov. Mike DeWine’s Thursday afternoon coronavirus pandemic briefing.
She said that there doesn’t have to an existing relationship between the providers and patients to use telehealth.
Thirty-three people are hospitalized, up from 26 on Wednesday.
Taking temperatures
DeWine clarified Thursday that his previous instructions that employers take workers’ temperatures to prevent spread of coronavirus was a suggestion, especially since stores have run out of thermometers.
“Employers that continue to work and we have essential industries that absolutely must continue," he said. "We ask them to be extremely careful with their employees.”
DeWine also repeated advice for employers that he provided during Wednesdays briefing: Clean and disinfect surfaces more than usual.
Government meetings
DeWine said that local governments may want to conduct their business remotely, including public meetings, but the press needed to be notified of changes to satisfy public information laws.
“The General Assembly will address this I believe next week.”
Patriotism
The situation in Ohio is changing fast. The first cases -- three people in Cuyahoga County -- were just announced on March 9. Since then, DeWine has ordered schools, bars and restaurants closed. He’s limited mass gatherings and Dr. Amy Acton closed polls for Ohio’s primary election, which was to occur on Tuesday.
“I want to thank all my fellow citizens in Ohio for all that they’re doing," he said, calling people’s sacrifices patriotic.
He asked people to fly their American or Ohio flags.
“We will get through this, spring will come, and all the joys of life we will again be able to enjoy,” he said.
She said people shouldn’t also worry about the stigma of needing help, such as unemployment benefits.
