Oil Train Safety Symposium Report

The final report is now available.

In April the Center for Regional Disaster Resilience held an Oil Train Safety Symposium here in western Washington. The event summary of those proceedings is now available.

You might also want to bookmark the home page for the Oil Train Safety Symposium, since we are accumulating additional resources there as we find them, for instance, the events surrounding the Oregon oil train derailment that happened earlier this month.

At the Pacific Northwest Economic Region Summit in Calgary the Transportation Committee will be picking up where the symposium left off and looking to continue the work of promoting safety in the movement of crude oil in the Pacific NW, both in the United States and in Canada.

Note that both governors from Oregon and Washington are petitioning the federal government to have Bakken crude made less volatile before shipping the commodity by rail.
