Poor Weather Forecasting in the USA Explained

Apparently we are not "exceptional" when it comes to forecasting the weather.

Surprise! I'm sure for the first time in 16 years of blogging that I have two weather-related blogs in a row. And both feature the University of Washington's Cliff Mass. See this long article from The New York Times Magazine, Why Isn’t the U.S. Better at Predicting Extreme Weather? Funny that this second article, published just today, doesn't address the botched forecast for this weekend's windstorm that Cliff also had a hand in.

Like most things in life and government, poor performance comes down to not enough money and not enough leadership to fix the issues we have.
