Washington State Not Ready for Mega Quake

Results from Cascadia Rising 2016 Exercise.

See this Seattle Times article that was front page news on Sunday, Oct. 23, Washington state’s plan for megaquake ‘grossly inadequate,’ review finds.

The story is evidently taking information from the after action reports coming out of the Cascadia Rising 2016 Earthquake Exercise. I wish I could say that stories like this in the public media make a difference, but to date, they have not done so.

Earlier in the year, the Seattle Times had some scorching headlines on seismic safety, or the lack thereof, that generated no action by anyone at any level. As I've written about before, "This state will not do anything about seismic safety until we are dragging dead bodies out of buildings."

I suppose folks are distracted by the 2016 campaign and not paying attention to life safety, more interested in getting elected or re-elected.
