Though decried by corporate executives for being exposed to the elements, the Super Bowl at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey promises to draw hundreds of thousands of fans and tourists to the New York metro region come early February. The influx of football fans means parking at and around the stadium will be at a very high premium. To help prevent a traffic nightmare, the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and New Jersey Transit have been working with other regional transportation organizations to brand this year’s game as the first “Mass Transit Super Bowl.”

As part of that branding effort, the MTA – along with New Jersey Transit, PATH, Long Island Railroad, and Amtrak – produced the first public transit map that incorporates the entire regional transportation system.

Part of the concept of FutureStructure is understanding how to create great places to live for the people who live there. In this case, creating this map – which shows all interconnections between the regional transit services – improves the city for both residents and visitors. The map will be a valuable resource for those attempting to navigate between New York and New Jersey before and during the big game. Plus, the map is beautiful to look at to boot.
