
Apple’s ring-shaped campus that is slated to being construction soon may have a new competitor in the Unusual Corporate Headquarters category. Amazon, according to reports today, is set to begin work on a massive, spherical structure in downtown Seattle.
Apple’s so-called “spaceship” campus has garnered headlines since the design was unveiled by Steve Jobs in 2011. But as Mark Stiles reports in the Puget Sound Business Journal, the “bubble building” may mean the ball is in Amazon’s court for most exotic corporate HQ.
Apple has a head start, however. In fact, the city of Cupertino, Calif., recently launched a webpage devoted to tracking the construction of Apple’s latest engineering marvel.
