$1.8 Million in Federal Grants Will Upgrade Electronic Health Record Systems in Louisiana

The technology will improve efforts to share and use information to support better health-care decisions.

(TNS) — Thirty-two health centers in Louisiana will share $1.8 million in federal funding to purchase or upgrade electronic health record systems.

The technology will improve efforts to share and use information to support better health-care decisions, officials said.

The funds are part of $87 million going to 1,310 health centers across the country from the Affordable Care Act’s Community Health Center Fund.

“Health centers across the country are instrumental in providing high-quality, comprehensive primary health care to millions of people,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell. “This investment will help unlock health care data and put it to work, improving health outcomes and building a better health care system for the American people.”

Area centers receiving funds are Capitol City Family Health Center Inc., $56,442, and HIV/AIDS Alliance For Region Two Inc., $41,265, both in Baton Rouge; RKM Primary Care in Clinton, $60,956; Southeast Community Health Systems in Zachary, $55,079; St. Gabriel Health Clinic Inc., $48,316; Common Ground Health Clinic, $41,000, Excelth Inc., $54,913, Marillac Community Health Centers, $93,659, MQVN Community Development Corp., $45,846, New Orleans Aids Task Force, $48,861, City Of New Orleans, $50,165, Odyssey House Louisiana Inc., $42,592, and St. Thomas Community Health Center Inc., $66,490, all in New Orleans; Jefferson Community Health Care Centers Inc. in Avondale, $70,726; Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority in Metairie, $52,518; Iberia Comprehensive Com Health Center Inc. in New Iberia, $83,200; Innis Community Health Center Inc. in Batchelor, $48,216; Catahoula Parish Hospital District No. 2 in Sicily Island, $56,276; Southwest Louisiana Primary Health Care Center Inc. in Opelousas, $54,539; St. Charles Community Health Center Inc. in Luling, $106,014; Start Corp. in Houma, $40,030; and The Teche Action Board in Franklin, $83,628.
