The Coronavirus Assessment Tool is a "conversational-style bot," according to a statement released Thursday by hospital officials. It asks users several questions to help gauge risk factors and symptoms.
The tool is in the upper right of Cape Fear Valley's website at www.capefearvalley.com.
"It is meant to act as a general guide to help people to determine whether to seek medical guidance," the statement said.
Cape Fear Valley Health officials created the bot to help with the overwhelming call volume to the system's CareLINK number, according to the statement.
"The nurse call center has been inundated with calls in recent weeks due to the COVID-19 outbreak," it said.
One of Cumberland County's 10 coronavirus cases is being treated at Cape Fear Valley. One of the two North Carolina residents who have died from COVID-19 lived in nearby Harnett County.
