Florida Hospital Considers ‘Smart Shoe’ Using Bionic Foot Sensors

The wearable technology captures body movements from the ground up and provides detailed data that can help improve rehabilitation.

(TNS) -- Florida Hospital has teamed up with REFLX Labs to see how they can improve pediatric rehabilitation and healing using bionic foot sensors.

FEFLX Labs is the creator of Boogio Bionic Foot Sensors, a wearable technology that captures body movements from the ground up and provides detailed data about any activity.

"Our initial observation of Boogio as a 'smart shoe' with children is very intriguing," Julie Sexton, administrative director of Florida Hospital Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, said in a news release. "We see the potential to develop interactive and engaging treatments not only for children, but for adults and athletes as well."

The team has found promising use for Boogio in children who walk on their toes or the balls of their feet.
