RxForOhio.org is a clearinghouse for patient assistance programs offered to eligible Ohioans, including 140 sponsored by drug manufacturers, plus 185 government and other programs. More than 1,400 medications are listed on the site.
The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), the trade organization for drug manufacturers, provides the Web site along with scores of health and government related sponsors.
To search the various prescription assistance programs, visitors to RxForOhio.org answer five simple questions that cover age, income, family size, pregnancy status and the name of the medication. With a quick search, patients can gain detailed information on corresponding programs, including eligibility criteria, contact information and application requirements.
Ohioans without at-home Internet service may access the site through public computing resources. Libraries, religious organizations, senior centers, universities and community or public interest centers provide public access. Or patients may call the toll-free number where operators will assist callers to find out if they are eligible for free or discount drug programs.
In addition to prescription assistance programs, RxForOhio.org offers information on various industry discount card programs, provides answers to frequently asked questions about the PAPs, and links to state government sites in Ohio.
