240 Taiwanese Schools Served by New Network

"The wireless campus initiative was the impetus for raising our security posture"

Juniper Networks, Inc. today announced that 240 schools served by Taiwan's Taoyuan County Education Network Center (TCENC) have secured and assured wireless communications networks with the Juniper Networks Secure Access 6000 (SA 6000) appliances. TCENC provides data center services and Internet connectivity for education institutions in its region. TCENC selected platforms to provide centralized secure remote mobile access to its campus wireless network. The SA 6000 was chosen for its ease of use and comprehensive security features.

"The wireless campus initiative was the impetus for raising our security posture with the Juniper solution," said Chuang Shih-kai, head network engineer of Education Network Center, Bureau of Education, Taoyuan County Government. "Basic security measures were not sufficient for this deployment because the pervasive nature of wireless access demands stringency in authentication, access management, and defense from man-in-the-middle attacks."

It will now be possible for organizations to deploy cost-effective secure access, extranet, and intranet security. The use of SSL eliminates the need for client-software deployment and costly on-going client maintenance or changes to internal servers.
