Government Purchasing Alliance to Announce Savings on Behalf of Counties, Cities and Schools

Launched in response to Congress' restrictions on use of GSA contracts by local authorities.

Leaders from counties, cities and schools across the country will hold a press conference 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 12 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., to announce significant savings achieved on behalf of counties, cities, special districts, schools and nonprofits that participate in the U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance.

U.S. Communities provides publicly solicited contracts for use by all local, state and non-profit agencies in the U.S. and Canada. The alliance was founded in 1996 by the National Association of Counties (NACo), the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM), the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), the National League of Cities (NLC) and the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO).

The U.S. Communities program was launched in response to Congress' unilateral restrictions on the use of General Services Administration (GSA) contracts by local agencies.
