"We're taking the touch-screen voting machines to cities large and small across Mississippi so all our citizens can continue to get comfortable with them," Clark said. "If you are a voter and haven't tried the new machines, just drop by your city hall on February 2."
The new voting machines were used for the first time in 77 counties last year. In 2006, Clark's Touch & Vote Mississippi program visited 79 counties and conducted demonstrations at more than 1,200 events from church socials to fish fries to senior citizens meetings to training events for election officials. The program received bipartisan praise at the most recent Legislative Budget Committee hearing. The same effort will be ongoing in 2007 in preparation for the statewide election in November.
