Online Tax Lien Sales Begin in Yavapai County

Web site for county's first online auction

An online auction of tax liens in Yavapai County, Ariz., will begin on the county's auction Web site at 9:00 a.m. on February 14, 2006. Bids can be submitted on the Web site as early as January 17, 2006 and winners will be determined when the auction officially closes on February 14, 2006. This marks the first time Yavapai county has sold its tax liens using Internet technology.

"We believe the online auction will benefit Yavapai county," said Ross Jacobs, Yavapai County Treasurer. "With GIS mapping and aerial photography, bidders have more information available on each property. We are saving our taxpayers money while providing a better service."

"The Web site is easy to navigate," said Realauction.com CEO Lloyd McClendon. "And the technology helps the county reduce its costs. Our customer-service team is in place to ensure that everyone's questions are answered."

Yavapai county is one of the four original Arizona counties formed in 1864, one year after the Arizona Territory was established. The county was named after the Yavapai tribe, whose name means the "people of the sun." The county seat is located in the city of Prescott with an annex of county offices in the town of Cottonwood in the Verde Valley.
