Anaheim Thanks First Responders for Their Assistance During Windy Ridge Fire

"I want to express my sincere thanks to all of the brave firefighters and police officers ... who helped keep our City safe during the fierce Windy Ridge fire."

Statement from Anaheim, Calif.'s Mayor Curt Pringle:

"On behalf of the entire Anaheim City Council, I want to express my sincere thanks to all of the brave firefighters and police officers from all over Southern California who helped keep our City safe during the fierce Windy Ridge fire," said Mayor Pringle. "Your diligent work on the front lines kept hundreds of Anaheim and Orange residents and their property safe, without major incident or injury. We are grateful for your commitment, honored by your service and inspired by your bravery."

Mayor Pringle toured the fire area with Anaheim Fire Chief Roger Smith early Sunday evening after crews had started to get control of the blaze and some residents were being allowed to return to their homes.

The 2,000-acre incident was handled by a unified command center consisting of representatives from Anaheim, Orange and the Orange County Fire Authority. Some of the other agencies who sent assistance included Brea (Police and Fire), Cal Fire, California Department of Forestry, Costa Mesa (Fire), El Dorado County, (Fire), Fresno County (Fire); Fullerton (Fire), La Habra (Fire), Laguna Beach (Fire), Los Angeles County (Fire), Newport Beach (Fire), Huntington Beach (Fire), Santa Ana (Fire) and Tuolumne County (Fire).
