Dress President Like a Donkey and Go to Jail

Hooliganism cited by government.

This was a bad week for bloggers. Two bloggers from Azerbaijan posted a video of President Ilham Aliyev as a donkey and were sentenced to two years in prison. However, the government maintains that the jailing was unrelated to the video and was instead for "hooliganism" at a restaurant, according to an article in Al Jazeera English.

And three Cuban bloggers -- Yoani Sanchez, Orlando Luis Pardo and Claudia Cadelo -- were forcibly detained by Cuban plain clothes security personnel and beaten while en route to a peaceful demonstration in Havana, according to a statement by the U.S. State Department, which called on the Cuban government "to ensure the full respect of the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all its citizens."
