FCC Hosting Summit on 911 and Enhanced 911

The Federal Communications Commissions Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (PSHSB) today announced that it will convene a summit on issues relating to the deployment and use of Next Generation 911 technology and the coordination of those efforts among Public Safety Answering Points, the telecommunications industry and manufacturers on February 6, 2008.

The Summit will include expert panels composed of representatives from the public safety community, government, and the communications industry. A detailed agenda will be released in the coming weeks.

The Summit will be open to the public; admittance however will be limited to the seating available. Those individuals who are interested in attending the summit may pre-register online. Those who pre-registered will be asked to provide their name, title, organization affiliation and contact information. A live audiocast will be available at http://www.fcc.gov on a first come, first serve basis (maximum of 200 listeners at any one time).
