Fairfax County, Va., Fire Department Deploys Web-Based Records Management Software
Implementation will provide for the management of 'thousands' of National Fire Incident Reporting System records
Fairfax County, Va., recently completed the deployment of a $450,000 custom Web-based fire incident/EMS/records management system. The system will allow the county to manage thousands of NFIRS (National Fire Incident Reporting System) records generated by its countywide Fire & Rescue Department. The department, which protects a population of more than one million across almost 400 square miles, is staffed by a combination of career and volunteer firefighters providing fire suppression, emergency medical, technical rescue, fire prevention and educational services.
The Web-enabled records management software helps the county realize savings in time and resources by deploying an Internet browser based solution that allows for remote installation and management of the system. Users simply log in through their Web browser and, once connected through a secure link, have the capability to create and update critical incident reports and review management statistics. The software requires minimal training and is extremely scalable and customizable to meet the unique needs of the county. The richness of the data collected provides comprehensive information, improving response times, service quality, and firefighter safety. FireRMS Web also offers innovative security features that assist Fairfax County in ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
