Fight Against Domestic Violence Enters the Wireless Age

Wireless connections are "a vehicle to increase public safety"

As the "closed garage door syndrome" escalates throughout homes in local communities, Denise Brown is on a mission to utilize the benefits of Municipal Wireless Networks as a platform to spread the word against domestic violence. With a global trend toward Municipal Wireless Networks gaining momentum, city leaders look for high speed wireless connectivity as a vehicle to increase public safety and bring back the "trust thy neighbor" feeling into their communities.

"I have been exploring new innovative ways to communicate the fight against domestic violence," says Denise Brown -- Chair of the Nicole Brown Foundation. It is the hope that increasing the reach of municipal wireless will improve public safety by improving communication. Brown continues, "Based on the initial case studies of high speed wireless connectivity, it can be a remedy to reduce the gaps in communication that currently exist at the local community level between individuals, law enforcement, courts and domestic violence program providers."

Though wireless technology is still evolving, it certainly offers a viable platform to diminish public safety woes in the local community. "While the wireless service providers work to improve and perfect the technology, I will work ... to reach out and spread the word. My goal will be to work with city and community leaders to create the maximum awareness to forge communication alignments between government and the community," Brown concludes.
