Greenville County, South Carolina, Selects GIS Software Solution

"We maintain two separate areas of addressing for our dispatch center, one in CAD the other for mapping. The LGaddress software allows us the ability to maintain both, increasing accuracy while decreasing the time it takes to perform updates"

Greenville County, South Carolina's Emergency Medical Service has expanded its implementation of Geographic Technologies Group's LG GIS software suite, according to a release from the company. The county's EMS system has acquired licenses of LGaddress for Public Safety to expand the existing LG platform which includes other GIS applications such as LGdispatch.

LGaddress for Public Safety is a Bi-directional Geographic Information System (GIS) software application that allows spatial management of the Master Street Address Guide (MSAG). LGaddress for Public Safety offers innovative bi-directional GIS functionality including:

  • Data that resides in the MSAG can now be automatically and seamlessly integrated into the LGaddress for Public Safety GIS application.
LGaddress for Public Safety allows the user to update Geofile records with spatial information residing in a GIS. Spatial overlay capabilities allow the user a window into GIS and Geofile records.

"We are certainly excited about our purchase of this software," said Lt. Roger S. Dobbs, EMS technology manger. "Currently, we maintain two separate areas of addressing for our dispatch center, one in CAD the other for mapping. The LGaddress software allows us the ability to maintain both, increasing accuracy while decreasing the time it takes to perform updates," Dobbs added.
