Justice Department Launches Web 2.0 Presence

Department encourages citizens to visit it on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and MySpace.

The Justice Department last Thursday launched a new Web site along with MySpace and Facebook pages, a Twitter account and YouTube channel, each mirroring the department's Web site in terms of appearance and content. Statements on its MySpace and Twitter pages advise visitors that the department does not control, moderate, collect or disseminate information provided by visitors to those pages and users should visit Justice.gov to contact the department.

The department's Web site provides a clean look and a menu of ways to interact with the department including links to report a crime, apply for a grant, request records or permits and report missing persons. A link under the resources menu at the top of the page provides access to documents related to notable cases including the investigation into the Anthrax attacks of October 2001 and the government's case against Bernard Madoff.
