Missouri Firefighters Receive $992,552 in Grants

Departments will use the grants to fund training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.

Gov. Matt Blunt announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded Missouri $992,552 in grants to support Missouri's fire departments and to help enhance Missourians safety.

"These grants help ensure that our firefighters have the tools they need to efficiently and effectively conduct their job and help Missourians in their time of need," Blunt said.

The grants are earmarked for operations and safety. The departments will use the grants to fund training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program awards one-year grants to local fire departments. The grant program provides the departments with the tools they need to enhance the safety of the public they serve and their firefighters. The grants are administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Preparedness Directorate's Office of Grants and Training in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
