New Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Deputy Assistant Administrator

"Ray White has been critical to the development of the strong system of security we have in place today."

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced Ray White as the agency's deputy assistant administrator for the office of security operations.

White has been with TSA since 2002 and most recently served as the acting federal security director at Dallas Love Field. He has also served as assistant federal security director and interim federal security representative. During TSA's rollout, White was in charge of federalizing security operations in Arkansas, Oklahoma and much of Texas.

"Over the past five years, Ray White has been critical to the development of the strong system of security we have in place today," said TSA Administrator Kip Hawley. "His determination and commitment to the mission will ensure we continue to raise the bar of security."

Prior to joining TSA, White was a supervisory special agent in civil aviation security at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In this position, he was responsible for security across a five-state region. White also worked as a program manager for risk management and physical security at the FAA. While there, he was responsible for security at over 200 facilities.

White served 27 years in the United States Army, retiring in 1990. During his service, he had positions in artillery, infantry, signal corps and adjutant general corps. He has also worked in positions at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Office of Personnel Management and the Department of Education.

White is a graduate of Delaware State University. He and his wife, Mary Anne, have two daughters and three grandsons. He replaces Earl Morris who returned to his position as federal security director at the Salt Lake City International Airport.
