New York MTA Selects Lockheed Martin to Lead $212 Million Security Contract

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) selected Lockheed Martin as the prime contractor for a comprehensive upgrade of MTA's electronic security operations infrastructure. The Authority oversees the New York City Transit system, Long Island Railroad, Metro North Railroad, and MTA bridges and tunnels.

Work under the initial three-year contract, valued at $212 million, will start immediately. The contract includes maintenance options that could extend the program through September 2013.

Lockheed Martin will lead an experienced team to design, develop and deploy a critical infrastructure protection system that integrates the command, communications and control capabilities across MTA facilities.

Lockheed Martin's core team includes ARINC Incorporated, Slattery Skanska USA Civil Inc., SYSTRA Engineering, Intergraph Corporation and Cubic Corporation, all with New York City operations; and Lenel Systems International Inc., Rochester, NY.

The objectives of this project include optimum use of critical security resources, more efficient provision and management of MTA information, enhancement of electronic-based detection and deterrent functions, and more resilient and electronically connected emergency response and recovery services.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Award Security Contract

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey awarded BearingPoint a $5.2 million contract to implement Phase III of the Operation Safe Commerce (OSC) project, a program designed to improve security procedures for containerized cargo entering the country.

Under this contract, BearingPoint's Global Trade Management practice will incorporate the "best of breed" technologies tested in OSC Phase II to monitor containers throughout the supply chain for any breach, helping to enhance cargo integrity. These technologies will improve the integrity of empty containers, stuffing processes, and transit from arrival through to the point of deconsolidation (the process of breaking down bulk international shipments into multiple shipments for delivery from the port of entry directly to a store or distribution center).

Louisville, Ky., Awards $6.4 Million Public Saftey Contract

Louisville, Ky., MetroSafe awarded Intergraph Corp. a contract to provide its multi-jurisdictional incident response and management system, which includes software, hardware, peripherals and integration services. The contract is valued at $6.4 million and includes computer-aided dispatch (CAD), mobile computing and reporting and analysis software.

Once complete, MetroSafe will combine Louisville's emergency communications functions and allow emergency responders in various agencies to communicate with approximately 20 public safety agencies in the Louisville metro area. It will be one of the largest centers in the southeastern United States.

California Police Department Places Order for Video Surveillance

A California Police Department placed an order for Global ePoint's video surveillance systems.

The order represents an initial deployment of an integrated video surveillance system, featuring a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) system, indoor and outdoor surveillance cameras, and a video archival system. The video surveillance system provides high resolution video, video input up to 32 cameras, internal storage capability of 600 GB, advanced search capability, remote monitoring, network integration, password protection, and custom configuration per camera.

New York State Awards Aggregate Contract for Monitors, Desktops and Notebooks

The State of New York named Gateway the recipient for a purchase agreement providing business class desktops and notebooks, lightweight notebooks and display monitors.

This six-month purchase agreement valued at an estimated $25 million is the second Aggregate PC Purchase conducted by New York this year and is anticipated to include as many as 21,000 units and save the state millions of dollars.

New Mexico Awards $14 Million ERP Implementation

New Mexico has awarded MAXIMUS a $14 million contract to provide software implementation services for the Statewide Human Resource, Accounting, and Management Reporting System (SHARE). The contract is for two years with a possible four-year extension.

MAXIMUS will supply professional services to install, configure, test, and deploy a fully functional PeopleSoft Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system state-wide.
