Traffic Web Site Adds 54 Live Camera Views In Washington, D.C.

Accessed by desktop computers or Web-enabled cell phones, will help commuters and first responders

The TrafficLand Company, based in Fairfax, VA, announced the expansion of Washington, D.C. traffic camera views available on the www.TrafficLand.com public Web site to 112, bringing the total available across the region to 415.

The TrafficLand Web site is accessed by desktop computers or Web-enabled cell phones and displays live views from traffic cameras throughout the Washington, D.C. region, as well as Baltimore, Annapolis, Richmond and the Hampton Roads area. Developed as a public/private partnership with area Departments of Transportation, the Web site helps commuters avoid traffic congestion and first responders improve incident response.

"The 54 new traffic camera views dramatically improves the ability of TrafficLand.com users to see conditions for themselves and gain 'big picture' understanding of traffic volumes on D.C. roads, which helps them make more informed judgments about travel routes and departure times," said TrafficLand President Larry Nelson. "We're always working with the District Department of Transportation and other area DOT partners to add camera views and improve image quality on TrafficLand.com."

The company's Web site, www.TrafficLand.com, receives millions of page views per month, and its private network Video Distribution Service is used by transportation managers, first responders and federal agencies across the region.
