Virginia Homeland Security Grants Fund Interoperable Communications
Richmond Area Microwave Information System gets largest share of the funding.
Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine yesterday announced the commonwealth has allocated more than $5 million of its State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP) funds to interoperability projects across the commonwealth. Funded projects include more than $1.7 million for completion of phase two of the Richmond Area Microwave Information System interoperable public safety communications network, funding for other communications and exercises at the state and local levels, the Governor's Office said in a news release.
