Whitefish, Montana Police Complete Countywide Interoperability

Officers have access to federal, state and local criminal information from their patrol cars.

Whitefish, Montana Police Department has chosen to deploy law enforcement mobile data software application by BIO-key. MobileCop is a mobile, wireless solution that provides officers with access to federal, state, and local criminal information from their patrol cars and lets them communicate mobile-to-mobile or mobile-to-dispatch. This deployment means three agencies within Flathead County - Whitefish Police Department, Kalispell Police Department and Flathead County Sheriff's Office - will all have access to up-to-date, mission critical information and will be able to monitor the activities of the units from all three agencies.

The Whitefish Police Department serves a population of eight thousand residents in northwest Montana. According to Assistant Chief Michael Ferda, "The ability for officers to query and directly obtain critical law enforcement information is imperative to public and officer safety." Assistant Chief Ferda added, "The installation of mobile data communication capabilities into all of our police vehicles serves as a force multiplier because now all on-duty units in the other agencies can see what our officers are involved in and vice versa so that we can effectively help each other."
