"We view the FireRMS product as the core of our Fire Information System," said Joe Puglia, Calgary's fire information system coordinator. "Most of our data will be housed within this product, and it will, therefore, be the central source of our reporting to the province, city council, media, and others."
Calgary Fire Department to Deploy Mobile Records Management
New system compliant with Canadian and U.S. reporting standards
The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) recently purchased records management software. The new software allows firefighters to report on incidents more quickly, track business license inspections, establish and report on fire prevention procedures, preplan for emergency responses, and analyze fire department efficiency
"We view the FireRMS product as the core of our Fire Information System," said Joe Puglia, Calgary's fire information system coordinator. "Most of our data will be housed within this product, and it will, therefore, be the central source of our reporting to the province, city council, media, and others."
The new system is fully compliant with the Alberta Incident Reporting standards as well as the Ontario Fire Marshal reporting system and the United States Fire Administration's National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS 5.0). All three support nation-wide and province-wide data collection and analysis to improve the safety of citizens and emergency personnel. To add to the rich data set that makes this level of compliance possible, Calgary initiated BIO-key's development of the FireRMS 5.0 Occupancy Load Tracking and Reporting functionality. This allows firefighters to track the capacity of distinct locations to further enhance public safety.
