BayTSP provides online monitoring and enforcement services to the entertainment, software and videogame industries, and identifies between 3.5 million and five million infringements of client intellectual property daily. The Safe-KIDS system incorporates features specific to law enforcement, including the ability to narrow a file-sharer's location to within about 25 miles, and an interface that makes it easy to collect evidence needed when preparing subpoenas and search warrants.
"Child pornography is readily available on peer-to-peer networks, and the challenge for investigators has been finding file traders in their jurisdictions," said Mark Ishikawa, CEO of BayTSP. "Safe-KIDS automates and streamlines the process of identifying and locating infringers, giving investigators more time to focus on prosecutions."
A government test of the Safe-KIDS system using 50 images identified thousands of individuals worldwide offering them for download. Some individuals had all of the sample files.
When the Safe-KIDS system identifies an individual sharing child pornography, it assigns a case number and collects data on the suspect, including information on the images being shared, the individual's IP address, the date, time and name of the suspect's Internet Service Provider.
Safe-KIDS can deliver search results to a single team or distribute them to investigators who are closest to the file trader. The system also filters infringements based on regional requirements for securing subpoenas or search warrants.
Safe-KIDS operates entirely within an agency's IT infrastructure. BayTSP provides system maintenance and upgrades via a secure workstation.
