Utah Department of Public Safety Launches New Web Site

Renew drivers licenses, request driving records, verify state-issued ID cards through ValIDate, apply for concealed weapons permits and request criminal background checks.

The Utah Department of Public Safety recently unveiled a new version of its official Web site. The new Web site incorporates a consistent and clean design across eleven divisions, which enables citizens to quickly navigate to the online information and many in-demand services offered by the department.

The site introduces the first agency-wide implementation of a content management system on the Utah.gov network that allows each division to quickly and easily update vital public and law enforcement information. "We are very excited to see this site available to the public," said Scott T. Duncan, commissioner of the Department of Public Safety. "We have been aggressive in using new technologies to better serve the public, and this new site reflects our commitment to the mission of the Department of Public Safety."

"The launch of the new Department of Public Safety Web site is evidence of state agencies' dedication to providing their constituents with the most efficient service possible," said J. Stephen Fletcher, Utah's Chief Information Officer.
Within the new Web site, the Department of Public Safety offers a number of critical online services to constituents. Using the site, citizens and businesses may:

  • Renew a driver licens
  • Change the address of record on a driver license
  • Request driving records
  • Verify state-issued ID cards through the ValIDate service
  • Submit confidential drug tips
  • Get information on fireworks and fire safety
  • View information on Amber Alerts

The new site was a collaborative effort between the Utah Department of Public Safety, the Utah Department of Technology Services, and NIC.
