Is it true Apple’s new iPhone 12 won’t come with headphones?

Answer: Yes, and there won’t be a power adapter either.

No matter what Apple changed with each new iteration of its popular iPhone, there was one thing we could always count on: a pair of wired headphones and a power adapter would be included in the box. Sadly, however, 2020 has taken that away from us, too.

At Tuesday’s event announcing the launch of its newest line of iPhones, Apple revealed that, as rumors had previously suggested, it would be nixing the headphones and power adapter that usually come with a new device. Apple noted that these are both affordable options that many consumers already possess at this point, and that leaving them out will decrease the overall price of the phone. Additionally, it will be better for the environment and help the company achieve its goal of making its supply chain and products 100 percent carbon neutral by the end of this decade.

The iPhone 12 lineup will have something new included, though: 5G capability. All four new devices will be able to run on a 5G network, and their release has been almost too perfectly timed with Verizon’s announcement of its nationwide 5G network. Don’t get too excited though — that network is reportedly concentrated only in major cities at the moment.
