This isn’t the first time that Tesla has floated the possibility of making its cars talk, but now we have actual video evidence that it’s something the carmaker has been working on. CEO Elon Musk tweeted a short clip over the weekend of a Tesla vehicle actually speaking to pedestrians as it rolls by.

In the video, a red Model 3 is driven slowly by the camera, while an external audio system on the car says “Well don’t just stand there staring, hop in.” The caption in the tweet reads: “Teslas will soon talk to people if you want. This is real.” So if you’re driving down the street in your Tesla and you see someone you want to give a ride to, you can tell your car to extend the invitation for you.

The Verge reports that Musk revealed more details of the new system in a follow-up tweet. Apparently, he envisions it being added to the current sentry mode that sounds the alarm on the car’s internal sound system if its broken into. He also said that it will include a fart sound. Telsa has yet to reveal any details on when the feature might become available for consumers.
