How is Apple making sure you don’t lose your wireless earbuds?

Answer: the “Find my AirPods” app

When Apple announced its wireless earbuds last fall, the ease of losing the expensive devices — costing about $140 for a set of two — seemed to users like a risky chance to take.

On Tuesday, however, the tech giant released its new iOS to software developers and included a new feature of the Find My iPhone app: the unofficially named “Find my AirPods.” The tool will work much like Find My iPhone — if you leave your AirPods at a coffee shop, for example, the app will try to help you find the last location that you had them.

The new iOS will be in beta for the next month or two, after which users will be able to download the final version.
