What kind of news is this AI good at creating?

Answer: Fake news.

According to MIT Technology Review, an artificial intelligence program developed by OpenAI has gotten so good at writing false news stories that its creators will only be releasing a simplified version of it to the public. They want to make sure that the AI isn’t used to facilitate the spread of misinformation in the real world.

The OpenAI program was originally envisioned to be a language algorithm that could serve as a resource for answering questions, translating text and other useful tasks. It was trained on 45 million pages of text taken from the Web. As the researchers worked on it, they discovered that it could create very realistic text, even if what was being said was untrue.
