Is there such a thing as a perfect backflip?

Answer: Yes, if a robot does it.

They say nobody is perfect, but does that apply to robots?

MIT’s Mini Cheetah robot says no, because it can do basically a perfect backflip from a static start. It can also presumably do as many as it wants in a row without getting dizzy. Its other talents include a top speed of 2.45 meters (about 8 feet) per second, the ability to run sideways or spin around on the spot, and an impressive ability to stay on its feet when repeatedly nudged by a human. It can also get back up when pushed over onto its back.

The Mini Cheetah weighs in at just 20 pounds, giving it a much higher level of agility than its 90-pound counterpart, MIT’s Cheetah robot. Check out its impressive array of talents, and some fails too, in the video below.
