According to TechCrunch, the first episode features a discussion with actor Idris Elba, who recently tested positive for COVID-19. Oprah and Elba discuss why he decided to publicize his diagnosis, and Oprah also talks to his wife Sabrina Dhowre, who later tested positive as well, about her decision to quarantine with him, which received some criticism on the Internet. Episode two features a discussion with Rev. Wintly Phipps, Oprah’s longtime supporter and friend.
Oprah conducts the interviews remotely using FaceTime, and the overall feel and vibe of the show is designed to be positive and inspire hope for viewers. The show is one part of a larger partnership for original content between Oprah and Apple TV+. It was put together rather quickly in response to the pandemic, and therefore uses lower-production values.
