What is Instagram going to start hiding?

Answer: Likes.

In a move to promote healthier interactions between its users and make its platform “less pressurized,” the social media platform has revealed plans to test a hidden Likes feature. Engadget reports that users in Canada will be the first to get the feature starting next week, though it currently remains unclear if other places will also get the chance to try it out.

In the test, only the original poster will be able to see the Like counts for their posts. Followers will be unable to view a post’s Like count on main feeds, profiles or permalinked pages. According to Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri, the hope is that hiding Likes will allow “people to worry a little bit less about how many likes they are getting on Instagram and spend a bit more time interacting with the people that they care about.”
