What is the main subject of these live nature cameras?

Answer: Bears!

Times are tough right now, but at least we have live bear cams to get us through.

Every summer since 2012, Katmai National Park in Alaska has set up live cameras out in the wilderness along the banks of a river. That’s because this is the time of year when the parks resident brown bears have emerged from hibernation and are looking to fatten up on salmon before they go back to sleep for the winter.

Anyone with an Internet connection, that’s fast enough for any form of video streaming, can tune in to try to see the bears. According to Gizmodo, July and September are usually the best times to see them, because that’s when the salmon are the most active in their upstream migration. But bears aren’t the only animals looking to feed on salmon — if you’re lucky, you might sight an eagle or even a wolf.
