Which car maker has vowed to go all-electric after 2019?

Answer: Volvo

Volvo, the Scandinavian brand known for safe and reliable cars, announced that every vehicle it releases from 2019 onward will have an electric motor. The Swedish automaker said in a July 5 press release that its new models will feature varying levels of electrification — spanning from fully electric and hybrid electric motors to a mild electric motor.

“This announcement marks the end of the solely combustion engine-powered car,” said Volvo President and Chief Executive Håkan Samuelsson. “Volvo Cars has stated that it plans to have sold a total of 1 million electrified cars by 2025. When we said it, we meant it. This is how we are going to do it.”

The company will release five fully electric between 2019 and 2021, two of which will be from the company’s high-performance Polestar line. Volvo said the move marks the end of the internal combustion engine.
