Which high-end automaker is the latest to plot a course toward becoming a Tesla rival?

Answer: Porsche

For the last several years, Tesla has been enjoying the lion’s share of the electric sports car market. But now, it seems, other big names are moving in to stake their claim — German automaker Porsche being a main title challenger. The luxury sports carmaker announced it would be launching the Mission E, a four-door, battery-powered sedan, in 2019. The company is reportedly dropping $1.16 billion to overhaul its Stuttgart plant to prepare.

Porsche first alluded to the possibility of a Tesla-killer at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. It now appears that the cars will be available on the market in 2020.
