What is an eRosary?

Answer: An electronic rosary designed for praying in the digital age.

The Vatican is looking to reach a more tech-savvy, younger audience with its new “Click to Pray” eRosary bracelet. The wearable is made of 10 black agate and hematite rosary beads connecting a smart cross.

The device can be activated by making the sign of the cross, at which point it will connect to a companion mobile app. Wearers then have the option of praying the standard rosary, a contemplative rosary, or a thematic rosary that will be updated periodically. The system will track their progress in each prayer and monitor the number of rosaries completed.

The accompanying app can also deliver personalized religious content and the bracelet includes a health tracking feature. The eRosary is part of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network and is intended to help users learn “how to pray the rosary for peace in the world.”
