For example, in Kansas City, a record high temperature of 76 degrees Fahrenheit was set prior to the storm coming in. By midnight the temperature had dropped to 11 degrees. And in Springfield, Missouri the mercury reached a high of 80 degrees before plunging to 13 degrees by midnight.
