Citing Internet risks, 84 percent of online households want the option of premium Internet services that are faster, safer and more reliable. In a survey of 1,000 households conducted by the
American Consumer Institute, Internet consumers said they were "very concerned" about a number of Internet problems, including:
- Computer virus (61 percent)
- Identity theft (68 percent)
- Slow Internet speeds (40 percent)
- Spam email (51 percent).
The majority of those responding (61 percent) reported using high-speed services in their home, with the remainder using dialup services.
These survey findings suggest that high-speed Internet providers need to take the next step in developing advanced services that provide for more secure and faster Internet experiences. These survey results have an accuracy of plus or minus 3 percent.
